BeOnd resumed its Europe-Maldives flying in October 2026 and put its winter 2026/27 schedule on sale, according to a report dated 7 September 2026. The offer pairs a boutique all-business cabin with a refuelling stop and a thin schedule.
The cabin does not make the journey non-stop. Every departure from Zurich, Munich and Milan includes a technical stop in Dubai or at a Red Sea airport, with total travel time longer than 9-10 hours, according to Aviation.Direct’s August 2026 analysis of the airline’s winter plan.
A first-hand account published on 12 July 2026 shows how the stop can affect the trip. It describes a Milan-Maldives A319 leaving about six hours late and spending roughly three hours in Dubai against a scheduled 45 minutes. The flight carried 12 passengers.
The price comparison remains unresolved.
What BeOnd actually flies to the Maldives
BeOnd’s Europe-Maldives network in the winter 2026/27 schedule serves Velana International Airport in Malé. The technical stop is a refuelling stop, not a connection: passengers stay on board, with no terminal change, according to the same schedule analysis.
The fleet consists of converted narrow-body Airbus A319s and A321s. The A319 carries 44 seats; the A321 carries 68. All are lie-flat in a 2-2 layout. There is no economy cabin.
The layout has two consequences for passengers. Window passengers must step over their neighbour to reach the aisle, and a single-aisle fuselage gives less headroom than a wide-body.
BeOnd markets the cabin as an all-premium product with Italian leather and premium dining, according to the airline’s own site. Selected fares also include a private chauffeur to the airport and lounge access before departure. Every ticket includes BeOnd Assurance travel insurance, standard since November 2025. It covers disruptions, medical emergencies and lost baggage.

The winter 2026/27 booking and change policy
BeOnd stopped flying scheduled passenger services over the summer. The airline’s own winter schedule release, covered by Aviation.Direct in mid-August 2026, confirms that bookings are open and change fees are waived on tickets issued up to 31 October 2026.
The flexibility is unusually broad. Eligible Europe-Maldives tickets for winter 2026/27 can be moved as often as the passenger likes, with no separate change fee, subject to seat availability on the alternative flight.
The issue date matters, not the travel date. A ticket bought on 1 November 2026 does not carry the waiver. No change fee is not the same as no extra cost: fare-difference rules still apply. Moving to a higher-demand date can add to the price, while a quieter date can leave the fare unchanged.
BeOnd was operating two refurbished Airbus aircraft as of July 2026. That makes seat availability a real limit: on a given day there may be no alternative departure to move to.
What the October 11 fare scan covers
Our fare scan on 11 October 2026 priced London-Malé round-trip economy from €563 across 40 fares. Every itinerary was one-stop; no non-stop economy option appeared.
The dearest date pair cost €671, against the lowest fare above. The full spread was €108, or about 19%.
The cheapest pairs cluster in January 2027. The lowest fare pairs a 16 January 2027 departure with a 24 January 2027 return.
The scan does not price the decision at the heart of this article. It covers economy, not business class, and does not include BeOnd. No sourced, side-by-side figure compares a BeOnd business-class round trip with a Gulf-carrier business-class round trip on the same dates. Any specific saving between them therefore cannot be checked against a named source.
For an economy traveler on this corridor, a one-stop ticket is the norm, and the date choice accounts for a gap of roughly a fifth of the fare. These fares cannot show whether that pattern holds in business class.
Choosing BeOnd over a one-stop alternative
The choice is not non-stop versus one-stop. BeOnd’s routing advantage over a Gulf-carrier connection is smaller than the cabin suggests. It changes the cabin and the ground-stop experience: a refuelling stop instead of a hub connection with a lounge and a second boarding.
Alliance value is another part of the comparison. BeOnd belongs to no global alliance, so a business-class ticket earns no oneworld, Star Alliance or SkyTeam miles and carries no alliance rebooking protection.
The arrival buffer matters as well as the seat. A trip tied to a fixed arrival day or a same-day resort transfer leaves less room for a refuelling stop to overrun.
Two other costs sit outside the ticket. Positioning matters, and Milan departures against London for Maldives flights sets out the arbitrage from Italian gateways. The other line item most Maldives budgets miss is the transfer costs that sit outside the ticket.
How the technical stop changes the trip
Before committing, check the ticket’s issue date and the fare difference on any date you might move to. The waiver removes the change fee, not the fare gap.
Fixed-date travelers. If a resort transfer or wedding date pins your arrival, a scheduled refuelling stop that overruns is the risk. Build in an earlier arrival day, or keep the first night flexible rather than booking a same-day transfer. Less suited: travelers who can absorb a day’s slip without losing a booking.
Miles collectors. Before committing, check whether the carriers flying the one-stop London-Malé routings sit inside your programme’s partner list. Less suited: travelers who hold no status and never redeem miles.
Travelers who may move dates. The unlimited change feature is worth having only if you will use it. Less suited: anyone whose plans are already locked; for travelers who need the flexibility, the booking deadline is 31 October 2026.
