Alaska Airlines runs a frequent flyer scheme called Mileage Plan, and it is part of the oneworld alliance. The main benefits that come with status include priority check-in and boarding, free checked bags, complimentary upgrades, lounge passes and bonus miles.

Miles can be spent on award flights, partner flights, cabin upgrades and global partner awards, and some mileage awards are priced dynamically, so the cost can change with demand. Before redeeming, check the taxes and carrier charges that will still be payable in cash, and note that transfer fees apply if you move miles to another member. Miles do not expire, so there is no rush to spend them unless a particular award suits you.

To judge whether it is genuinely good, compare the final total against recent fares for the same route and dates rather than against the original price shown.

A card or cashback offer typically rewards you with points, miles, or a statement credit after you meet a set spending target within a fixed window, and the reward is often paid only once the purchase period closes. Before relying on one, check the offer dates, whether it applies to your departure country, which cabins and fare types qualify, and whether taxes and fees are excluded from the eligible amount. To judge whether it is truly good value, compare the reward's worth against what you would pay anyway, and ignore any headline bonus that requires spending you would not otherwise make.
